The Detroit Metro Sports Commission (DMSC) announced today the team match-ups for the Big Day Prep Showdown II
Presented by Comcast Local, a one-day showcase of season-opening high school football for eight teams at Eastern Michigan University's Rynearson Stadium on Saturday, August 26.
Wednesday's DMSC Big Day Prep Showdown kick-off event at EMU's Convocation Center included athletic directors, coaches and players from the participating schools and event sponsors. The announcement by DMSC executive director Dave
Beachnau revealed the updated event logo and the game match-ups.
"The Detroit Metro Sports Commission is excited to host and operate this exciting high school sporting event for the second year," said Beachnau. "The feedback in the local prep athletic community from the inaugural Big Day Prep Showdown was tremendous. For 2006, we have added teams from outstate Michigan including seven 2005 state playoff teams and one state finalist, and we look forward to a big day of football for the players and the fans."
The team match-ups for the Big Day Prep Showdown II are:
11:45 a.m. Allen Park H.S. vs. Trenton H.S.
2:30 p.m. Hudsonville H.S. vs. Plymouth H.S.
5:15 p.m. Flint Carman-Ainsworth H.S. vs. Saline H.S.
8 p.m. Chelsea H.S. vs. Novi H.S.
Big Day Prep Showdown II sponsors include Comcast Local, Beaumont Hospitals Sports Medicine Program, the Detroit Free Press, AM 1270 The Sports Station-WXYT and Community Bowling Centers. Also featured will be the Fan Zone, an interactive area with football-themed action for fans of all ages. Tickets to the Big Day Prep Showdown II are available at all participatingschools. Advance ticket prices are $9 for adults and $7 for students. Children age six and under are free. All game-day tickets are $10 at the
gate.
