Michigan High School Football Season Begins Thursday

It will be deja vu when schools around Michigan start the regular season this weekend.

In a scheduling quirk, the two teams that ended last season, will start the 2008 season. The curtain fell on the 2007 season at Ford Field when East Grand Rapids beat Orchard
Lake St. Mary's
46-39 in five-overtimes for the Michigan Division 3 state championship. Thursday night at 7 o'clock those two schools will play their regular season opener against each other in Grand Rapids, and both teams appear to have enough returning talent to return to Ford Field come championship time.

Speaking of championships, many think that Detroit King can defend its Division 2 state title thanks to the return of Nick Perry, who set a Michigan state record with 36 sacks last year. Many consider Perry the best player in the state, but the talent pool doesn't stop with Perry.
